Kitchenaid Artisan Mini to the Rescue

A few weeks ago, I posted about how I received my dream mixer as a gift and quickly found out I couldn’t use it because of physical limitations. I have to admit, it was a very low day for me. I cried quite a bit and felt defeated. Eventually, I picked myself up and I got to work researching mixers. Surely there had to be a solution. Turns out, there was: the Kitchenaid Artisan Mini Mixer!

I found this mixer on the Kitchenaid outlet store for a fraction of the cost. It’s roughly 25% smaller and more lightweight than the Classic. I was a little worried when I watched a few negative reviews on youtube complaining about the size. But I decided to give it a try anyway. After all, I was looking for a smaller option. It has the same motor as the Classic, so it really should be similar. Long story short: I can bake again!

At first I was disappointed with the size of the Kitchenaid Artisan Mini mixer. When comparing it to my standard mixer, it’s an unfair comparison. I thinking it was too small, but as I worked, I found I had more strength at the end of the day. Instead of one batch, I could sometimes make two or three batches of cookies and sometimes even bread dough.

It is light enough for me to scoot about and small enough for it to stay in one place on the counter. The bowl filled with ingredients isn’t too heavy to lift or remove from the stand like the Classic. It can handle a large batch of cookies, whip up 6 egg whites with plenty of room to spare and a loaf of bread with ease.

My Classic is stored in the closet in hopes of better days to come. In the meantime, I’m enjoying baking again. There are always solutions to our problems if we learn to accept our limitations and work within them. It’s that better than continuously wallering in pity?
