Extraordinary Chocolate Spice Cake Recipe

This extraordinary chocolate spice cake recipe will make you the talk of the town. With just a few spices and you’ll have an amazing chocolate cake to kick off the fall weather and start the holiday season. The key to this recipe is steeping the cocoa and spices in hot water similar to how you would a nice cup of tea. This step really brings out the aromas and flavors while allowing you to use less ingredients. We love this recipe as it is an affordable cake to make since you are relying on powdered cocoa instead of expensive chocolate bars.

Plus your house will smell stunning. I like to heat the water on the stove and let it simmer while I gather the remaining ingredients. Whereas you can do this in the microwave or just use really hot tap water, I recommend the stovetop or even a crockpot. You could also let it simmer for hours as you work around the house and let the water embrace the flavors.

Chocolate spice cake is one of my favorite recipes. There is also something magical about the aroma the spices and cocoa powder simmering over a hot stove. It just makes your house feel homey. I truly hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do. If you love chocolate, try out some brownies next.

First, in a small saucepan, you want to add your spices and cocoa.
Next, add in some hot water and mix.
Simmer on low for 10 minutes.
Now gather up your flour, salt, sugar and baking soda.
Then mix them well.
Next, place remaining wet ingredients in a separate bowl.
Whisk them until combined.
Slowly pour in your cocoa mixture, stirring constantly to avoid cooking the eggs.
It will be a thin mix.
Now we will add this to the flour mixture.
Then, combine wet with dry and stir until smooth.
Finally, pour the batter into a prepared pan.
The batter will be quite runny.
Bake 30 – 40 minutes.
Make a topping with cocoa.
Next, add in powdered sugar and salt.
Mix well and slowly add in some milk.
It will be a lovely glaze.
Pour the glaze on top of the cake evenly.
It’s really delicious and tender.
Happy baking!
