Betty’s Beautiful Banana Bread is Simply Divine

Betty’s beautiful banana bread is a treasured gift from a friend. If you have been following along, you’ll remember my post about the disastrous attempt to make banana bread after losing my beloved recipe in a move. I reached out on facebook to my friends for moral support and a bit of laughter. The results were quite horrific, after all.

I received all the love and support and a little more. My friend, Bonnie, has given me with a recipe she’s had for over 40 years. This recipe is the typical solid banana bread. More bread like than cake and dependent on overly rip bananas. If you want to give it a go, I think you’ll be happy.

If you notice, the photo she sent me is well worn with bits of batter, grease and residue stuck to the page. This is something those of you without physical cookbooks will never learn to appreciate. When you were young, you’d seek out these recipes in your mother’s cookbook. This was the one you knew would please your family.

It also appears this recipe book was a collection of a community as the author is listed by the name of the recipe. Mrs. D.M. (Betty) Adams was an amazing cook as this is a lovely recipe for banana bread. I’ve since named it Betty’s Beautiful Banana Bread to remind me of where it came from. And many thanks to Bonnie for her kind and generous spirit and giving me permission to share this recipe with each of you.
