“Icing on the cake” is one of those idioms that can go both ways. Luckily this recipe is one of those magical enhancements that is used to make a great cake fantastic.
I think what I like the most about this icing is how versatile it quickly becomes. First, you can make this a dairy-free icing by using juice or water in place of the milk. Second, try using water, fat-free milk or extracts made with alcohol and have a fat-free icing. Finally, add in some spices or cocoa like on these brownies for a wonderful flavor. Happy baking!

Powdered Sugar Icing
Ingredients
- 1 cup (125g) powdered sugar
- 1-2 tbs (15-30mL) juice or water
Instructions
- Mix together powdered sugar and liquid 1 teaspoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- Spread over top of cake. Allow to air dry for several minutes before slicing.
