Up on the rooftop reindeer slobber cookies was invented for my friend, Rebecca. It’s easy to modify a cookie recipe once you learn the basics and create all kinds of fun flavors and names. Everyone should learn how to make a chocolate chip cookie for this reason.
Simply look on the bag of any chocolate chips and they will provide a decent one for you. Once you master the stock recipe, start changing it up a bit. Vary the types of baking chips, switch up the sugar, add various nuts and dried fruits.
If you have children, then let them create their own. Call them fun names. This particular variation is called “Reindeer Slobber Cookies.” It has a cute ring to it doesn’t it? Imagine seeing reindeers slobbering all over a pile of cookies getting ready for take off. Then, they eat too much and have to take a nap first.
Occasionally, inspiration comes from peculiar circumstances. This particular flavor combination came about as a result of a disastrous recipe found by a friend on Facebook. She tried the recipe and asked me for help. She couldn’t figure out what she did wrong. I picked up the ingredients and followed the recipe.
Undoubtedly, it wasn’t her fault. That cookie was so sickly sweet, you didn’t actually taste flavor, only sugar. It was like eating a pound of sugar followed by 10 dozen sugar cookies in one bite. (Seriously, why are some baking videos allowed on social media? Most are disastrous.)
This recipe is also on the sweet side, but nothing like before. Think chocolate chip cookie sweet. The colorful combination is very popular with the younger crowd. Children’s eyes light up handing one over, especially when you tell them the name. Have some fun and ask them what they would call the cookie.
Perhaps next time, they could help you in the kitchen? So without further ado, let’s make some Reindeer Slobber Cookies!
