3 Ingredient Pumpkin Dog Treats

Pumpkin dog treats are a healthy snack for your dogs that doesn’t have a lot of fat, protein or calories. Plus they love the taste of these quick treats! Last week, we made banana dog treats for the dogs. They were such a hit, we decided to show you a similar easy recipe using pumpkin.

Let’s get the disclaimer out of the way. Pumpkin dog treats are a great snack for your dog, but should be fed in moderation and only if your dog can handle the ingredients. When unsure, it is always wise to consult with your veterinarian before feeding new foods to prevent issues such an upset stomach or an allergic reaction. Just like people, dogs can have dietary restrictions due to underlying health conditions. For instance, our eldest dog Raymond is allergic to many grains so we use rice flour instead of wheat or corn.

This pumpkin dog treat recipe is as easy as 1, 2, 3. In fact, only 3 ingredients go into making them. Pumpkin, egg and rice flour. Can you substitute the rice flour for regular white flour? Absolutely if your dog can digest it! You can also use corn, oats, whole wheat or barley. Just be sure it’s appropriate for your particular pooch!

Now, let’s get started with this simple pumpkin dog biscuit recipe. We do recommend storing leftovers in fridge or the freezer due to the high moisture content. If you choose to leave them on the counter, check them prior to feeding for mold. Foods made with a lot of moisture such as pumpkin and no preservatives do not last long at room temperatures.
