These are horse treats that can be used for administering medication. Because it remains pliable, it is easy to hide your horse's prescription or supplements in them. They can also be given as an occassional treat.

Ingredients
4 cups(320g) oats
1 ¼cups (300mL) water
1cup(125g) oat flour
¼cup(50g) crushed peppermint
2tbs(30mL) molasses
Instructions
In a blender, pulse 12 peppermint candies into a fine powder. Set aside.
If you do not have oat flour, pulse 1 1/2 cups of oats in the blender until smooth.
In a microwave safe bowl, mix molasses, water and 2 cups of oats. Microwave on high for 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute.
Add oat flour, crushed peppermint and stir.
Mix in the remaining 2 cups of oats. Let cool before shaping into small balls about 2" or 5 cm in diameter. Using the handle of a spoon or your pinky, poke a hole in the center for the pills.
Keep refrigerated up to one week or in the freezer up to 6 months.
Notes
If you do not own a microwave, bring 1 1/4 cups (300mL) of water and 2 tablespoons (30mL) molasses to a boil. Add in 2 cups of oats. Stir and let sit 5 minutes.Do not use sugar-free peppermints. Substitution for crushed peppermints is 1/4 cup (50g) sugar and 1 tsp (5mL) peppermint extract.If you do not have a blender, place peppermints in a large bag and crush with a rolling pin. If you do not have oat flour, place 1 1/2 cups uncooked oats into a blender and pulse until it forms a powder. This will make approximately one cup of oat flour. If you do not have the ability to make oat flour, you can add additional oats 1/2 cup at a time until you can form shapes with the dough.Although this recipe was vet approved, please check with your veterinarian before feeding any treats, especially if your horse has any dietary restrictions.
