I have a confectionary confection. Collapsing cupcakes happened in my kitchen today. I found a few cake mixes on sale and decided to make some for the husband’s students. Wasn’t even going to create a post today until I pulled a batch of cupcakes out of the oven. I laughed until I nearly cried at how bad I was at making these simple little confections.
So apparently having a back injury and frozen shoulder has made making cupcakes quite challenging. Who would know that there is a specific way you have to turn you arm that mine currently still will not budge in order to properly fill up cupcake liners? I had collapsing, over filled, under filled, folded liners, splayed liners, basically, anything that could have went wrong, went.
Further, if you look in the background of a few of the photos, you’ll see the pile of towels I used cleaning up an even bigger mess. Life happens in the kitchen, folks. Don’t stress about it. Sometimes things just don’t turn out as you hope. And that is totally okay!
Whereas are bakers and bloggers out there that actually promote shaming others for their baking mishaps such as this, I don’t recommend poking fun of other’s attempts at baking. I saw it recently on a macaron group in which I am a member. I openly came out against this since we all start at different stages. Why contribute to meanness in the world? Who knows, you could be squashing the dreams of a small child by poking and prodding at baking disasters. That being said, feel free to giggle at my mishaps. I know I sure did!
Do you have a confectionary confession of collapsing cupcakes, exploding cheese bread, crumbling cookies or the like? Share with me. I’ll laugh and cry with you. In the meantime, let’s rebuild our confidence and make something simple like chocolate chip cookies.
