Make your Own Candy Box By Upcycling

When you are on a budget, it behooves you to learn to reduce, reuse and recycle items. Think outside the box. Or in this case, think inside the box. Yeah, I know. Stop trying to tell jokes.

Back on topic, I found a quick way to save money. Learn how to make your own candy box by using what you already own. And by reusing, there is less needless waste in the world. How’s that for being environmentally friendly?

It was the middle of the night and I’m getting truffles packaged. It’s then I realized the box I purchased wasn’t going to work.  It was way too small.  So I rummaged in the pantry and came up with an idea.  Lipton to the rescue!

It was the perfect size for a box full of chocolates.  It was just a little…well let’s face it. A tea box and not very appetizing for sweets.  (Although as is, it would be a great way to hide your petit fours from your family members!)

I used leftover wrapping paper to cover the box for the holidays. I thought it made it look more festive. You don’t have to be perfect. Make it look as nice as you can.

Now, if you are going to do this and go out and buy wrapping paper specifically for the box, it’s not really cost advantageous. Also, keep in mind wrapping paper for the most part is not recyclable. We no longer buy it in our house and instead will just use up what is leftover. Keep that in mind when deciding to reuse containers. For my more laid back friends, I would have sent the chocolates in the Lipton box. They would have been amused. How will you make your own candy box?
