Homemade Bread Will Not Look Like Store Brands

Homemade bread will not look like store brand loaves. And this is a good thing. I used to adore a local bread store and they have the most perfect looking loaves. Unfortunately, they were bought out by a larger company. Overnight, the bread became all beauty and no substance. It got me thinking: would you rather eat a pretty loaf that was gummy on the inside or a slightly wobbly one with amazing taste?

Yes, I know. You may be the person that can create a gorgeous wonderfully tasting loaf. And that is awesome. However, the reality is most of us are not at that level. We are making bread while washing dishes, feeding the family, brushing the dog… Well, hopefully not brushing the dog!

If you are in the later category like me, relax. For every perfect loaf you see online, there are more puffy, misshapen, broken, lopsided, wobbly, uneven bread loaves hiding away in everyday kitchens. What do you do when this happens?

Be proud you have homemade bread and show it off. More importantly: Eat up! Guarantee these imperfect loaves will still taste 100% better than the gluey, tasteless, nutrition-striped big named sandwich breads out there. Enjoy life. Expect imperfections and you’ll be much happier for it. And when someone says your bread looks funny, tell them “Yes, but it tastes amazing.” And then go visit Jackson on Instagram and share your loaves. He loves wonky bread.
