Ingredients
For the Cake
1cup(150g) flour
¾cup(180mL) milk
¾cup(150g) sugar
¼cup(60mL) oil
1large(50g) egg
½cup(40g) cocoa powder
1tsp(5mL) vanilla
½tsp(3g) baking soda
½tsp(2.5g) salt
For the Glaze
1cup(125g) powdered sugar
1-3tbs(15-45mL) milk
1tbs(5g) cocoa powder
¼tsp(1.25g) salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350F (180C.)
Grease and flour one 8" (20cm) cake pan or line with parchment paper.
Combine flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat egg, oil, milk and vanilla until smooth. Add flour mixture and beat until you no longer see lumps, about 1 minute. Pour immediately into prepared pan.
Bake 30 - 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Center should read between 190F (88C) and 210F (99C.)
Cool in pan on wire rack.
Chocolate glaze
Combine powdered sugar, salt and cocoa in a small bowl. Add milk, one teaspoon at a time, stirring until desired consistency is achieved.
Spread on top of cake. Allow icing to dry before serving.
